Darfield Longbow JFC was established in 1991 to satisfy the needs of local children passionate about football. With the support of the Longbow Pub the Club came into being and some of the founder members were Steve Hayleward, Jason Waller, Brian Lee & Dave Hancock (now Academy Director at Barnsley FC).

Initially the Club had two teams in the U10 & U12 age groups playing in the Barnsley Friendly League. As the Club developed age groups from U5 to U16 were added, and by 1996 the Club were playing in the Sheffield & District Junior Sunday League. At about this time Dave Hancock left the Club to pursue his career with Barnsley FC.

In 2004 the Club changed its name to Darfield JFC and became one of the first in the SDJSL to achieve FA Charter standard, something the Club are rightly proud of.

At the end of the 2006/2007 season Steve & Jason retired from the Club having devoted many years to developing Darfield JFC & guiding it to a high standard of achievement, it was with much gratitude that the Club said farewell to them both.

In 2009 we saw the launch of our Club website, our continued thanks go to webmaster Helen for looking after it so well for us.

The 2013/14 season will see several radical changes to the structure of the club including the appointment of a new chairperson, committee members, coaches and other support staff.
